A Versatile Summertime Dewatering Solution

Although summer is quickly fading into fall, the season’s naturally low water levels have yet to return to normal. Dewatering your worksite when water levels are low may seem like a job for sandbags. But there’s a much better solution. Many contractors rely on water-inflated cofferdams, even for smaller jobs like summertime dewatering.

The Aqua-Barrier® temporary cofferdam may seem like a bigger solution than you need. You have probably seen the Aqua-Barrier® being deployed for much larger projects. The enormity of this water-inflated cofferdam solution may seem overpowering for smaller projects with low water levels. The good news is that this dewatering tool comes in various sizes, making it the best dewatering solution on the market, no matter the project size. The Aqua-Barrier® is a great solution for dewatering construction sites, summertime flood control, and general water containment.

The Versatility of the Aqua-Barrier® Temporary Cofferdam

The Aqua-Barrier® water-inflated cofferdam was designed with flexibility, cost-effectiveness, and ease of use in mind. Not only is this method reusable and easy to deploy, but the various sizes available make it ideal for any project.

The Aqua-Barriers® you rent will depend on the size and shape of your project. Choose from the following:

Available Heights:

  • 2ft
  • 4ft
  • 6ft
  • 8ft

Available Lengths:

  • 25ft
  • 50ft
  • 75ft
  • 100ft

Custom heights and widths are also available for purchase and barriers can be connected to fit any work area.

Aqua-Barriers®, by design, are a very versatile solution making them ideal for various projects, even where water levels are lower than usual. Whether you need a summertime dewatering method, flood control or water containment, the Aqua-Barrier® has you covered.

Summertime Dewatering

Across the country water levels are lower in the summer months.  Lower water levels do not decrease the importance of controlling the hydraulic environment of your construction site. The choice is yours – avoid a potentially costly delay by trading labor intensive sandbags for easy to install Aqua-Barriers®.  As you know, sandbags can take hours to install.  On the other hand, an Aqua-Barrier® is much easier to deploy. For small jobs Aqua-Barriers® can be can be installed manually.  For larger jobs, Aqua-Barriers® will require some heavy lifting machinery, but a hundred-foot-long six-foot tall wall is approximately 1% the weight of a traditional sandbag wall of the same size.

Summertime Flood Control

Aqua-Barrier® offers several distinct advantages over sandbags for flood control.  You don’t always have days to prepare for a flood.  A 6×100 foot sandbag wall requires over 617,500 pounds of sandbags, which need over 617 cubic yards of storage. By comparison, a 6×100 foot Aqua-Barrier® wall is only 1,098 pounds before inflation and requires only 16 cubic feet of storage.  Once floodwaters have contaminated sandbags, they need Hazmat procedures for removal, adding a costly and time-intensive element to cleanup.

Water Containment

Even with lower water levels, many construction projects require water containment.  Sandbags are a multipurpose tool not specifically designed for water containment. They are not water tight by design, and that can result in unwanted water in your worksite. On the other hand, the Aqua-Barrier® is specifically designed for water containment, using a sophisticated internal baffle system that locks into place when introduced to uneven water pressure. The Aqua-Barrier® system can be used to contain both moving and standing water.  One of the most popular ways that it is used for summertime water containment is during pool maintenance and repair.

Aqua-Barrier® the Superior Choice

In these dryer months, many contractors make the misguided decision to use sandbags.   Sandbags are less efficient, environmentally unsafe and costly to dispose of.   The benefits of Aqua-Barriers® aren’t only for construction sites with deep water; temporary cofferdams are the most ideal solution for construction site dewatering (and more!) in all seasons.  Contact us to learn more about using the Aqua-Barrier® cofferdam system for summertime dewatering and find out which size is most appropriate for your project.
